Introducing The Prairie Stone: Durable, Fireproof Indigenous Housing

At Structural Precast, our work takes us across western Canada, from the cities into all kinds of rural areas. We work with farmers, Colonies and other communities looking to build stronger, more durable homes. Today we’re expanding our rural offerings, with a new line of contemporary concrete homes designed specifically for indigenous communities.

We’re launching The Prairie Stone line of homes with three initial designs. And while they’re all loaded with great features and details, let’s focus on the most important one first.

We know from our conversations with Chiefs across the prairies that one of the major concerns they have with the housing in indigenous communities is its susceptibility to fires. Entire communities can be left homeless by a grass fire run wild. Even houses that escape fire damage often have to be replaced in a few short years due to other forms of decay.

We’ve solved this. The Prairie Stone homes won’t burn. They also won’t rot, rust or mold.

The Prairie Stone is a home designed to last. With exteriors built with strong, maintenance-free materials, they’ll stand up to even the harshest Canadian weather, year after year.

And since you don’t have to worry about the house’s durability, you can focus on those great features we mentioned earlier. Because this isn’t just any old concrete box.

The Prairie Stone comes in three models:

  • The Prairie Stone I – with an attached front step

  • The Prairie Stone II – with a deck and pergola

  • The Prairie Stone III – with a pergola and garage

Each of the three models features open concept living areas and beautiful polished concrete floors. Just drop a rug down and your main living space is complete. The homes run from 1200-1600 square feet but can be expanded to incorporate additional square footage. The exteriors feature pot lights and a variety of options for colours and finishes.

As with all Structural Precast products, we can install the home rapidly in all kinds of weather, often in just two weeks.  And, of course, we stand behind our work, with a 10 year warranty.
