How We Make Precast Concrete Foundations
If you want to know how we construct Superior Walls precast concrete walls, we need to get technical.
We start with high-strength low-water concrete. That mixture is poured for solid structural integrity into panels and reinforced with steel rebar and polypropylene fibers. When we're making XiTM Plus precast concrete panels, there's also horizontal steel rebar inside top and bottom beams, vertical steel rebar inside each stud, steel-reinforced concrete studs and footer beams.
Superior strength is built-in each insulated precast concrete panel based on the 7,500+ PSI concrete that is used during construction of the panel. The concrete used in Superior Walls products provides protection against freeze/thaw cycles and water vapor transmission while the urethane sealant used between concrete wall panels provides superior protection against sidewall water penetration. As per our CCMC listing, we also provide additional damp proofing which does add an extra level of protection.
In 2012 the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) declared that Superior Walls precast concrete panels were approved for use in Canada.. Since that time Superior Walls Alberta by Structural Precast has created precast panels for many building projects.
Xi Plus Features
Our Xi Plus precast concrete walls meet or exceed energy conservation requirements from both the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and the International Residential Code (IRC). One-inch foam insulated concrete studs and one-inch foam insulation on the bond beams help ensure energy efficiency in the home. Xi Plus precast concrete walls made in Canada feature 5" Neopor® Rigid Thermal Insulation to provide an insulation value of R-23.
Each custom-made concrete panel is manufactured to the specific needs of a project. Features include:
7,500+ PSI concrete reinforced with rebar and polypropylene fibers
Four precast and insulated access holes in each standard stud to provide greater ease in wiring and plumbing
Horizontal steel rebar inside top and bottom beams
Vertical steel rebar inside each stud
Insulated corners, studs and bond beam
Galvanized steel stud facing
Thermally isolated/insulated from exterior
